(The term "Goblin" was used wrong even in the english version, as goblins are not exactly ugly and evil but more like little pranksters, just like german kobolds) So in german D&D Kobolds are Lizards and Goblins are ugly humanoids.
Of course in original german role playing games (like "Das schwarze Auge" (the black eye)) a Kobold is a little man who likes to play pranks, as in mythology, and, taken from Fantasy, a Goblin is a little, ugly humanoid
